Uber’s stock rises after launching its first fully autonomous robotaxi service in Abu Dhabi

Shares of ride-sharing company Uber Technologies rose 2.35% to close at $85.66 after the company announced the launch of its first fully autonomous robotaxi service in Abu Dhabi. This marks Uber’s fourth market for autonomous transportation services and its first outside the United States. The launch was made possible through a partnership with the Chinese autonomous driving technology company WeRide. Uber began operating commercial transportation services with autonomous vehicles in Abu Dhabi through a partnership with WeRide and local fleet operator Tawasul. The service received approval from the Integrated Transport Centre, which granted the region’s first operating license for fully autonomous robotaxi services. The vehicles are currently operating on Yas Island, with plans to expand to other key areas within the city.
