How should a car decide who dies?

Recently, I was discussing the ethical implications of self-driving cars with a close friend of mine. It’s a discussion we have often had, because I am a self-professed luddite, and he is not necessarily pro-technology, but more-so resigned to its inevitability. Before we start, I am well aware that I am on the losing side of this argument.
