Tesla Autopilot, at times unsafe for automatic lane changes, lays bare machine-learning brittleness
In my column of last Sunday, I analyzed a Tesla Autopilot incident involving a Tesla Model 3 that slammed into a stalled car on a highway, and readers subsequently asked me to do a follow-up to discuss the recently released study by Consumer Reports regarding the latest version of the Tesla Autopilot lane changing feature, which thusly I provide such an analysis herein.
