Daimler Truck has taken a significant step toward the commercial deployment of autonomous freight vehicles, confirming plans to bring self-driving trucks to highways and regional routes, supported by a strategic partnership with Innoviz Technologies Ltd. Innoviz, a supplier of high-performance LiDAR sensor platforms, announced that Daimler Truck and Torc Robotics—its autonomous driving subsidiary—have selected the company as their provider of short-range LiDAR for SAE Level 4 autonomous semi-trucks. The decision positions Innoviz’s technology as a core component of Daimler Truck’s autonomous vehicle strategy.
